How the image cropper works
The cropper shows your photo with a movable crop box. Drag inside the box to move it and drag the handles to resize it. The numbers below the photo show the exact crop position and size in pixels, and you can type values for precise crops. When you download, the crop is cut from the full resolution original, not from the preview, so no quality is lost.
Aspect ratio presets
- 1:1 for profile pictures and square posts.
- 4:5 for Instagram portrait posts.
- 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails and presentations, 9:16 for stories and Reels.
- 4:3, 3:2, 2:3 for prints, 35:45 for passport photos and 1.91:1 for link previews.
Rotate, flip and round crop
Rotate in 90 degree steps and flip horizontally or vertically to fix mirrored selfies. The round crop option makes a circular transparent PNG, ready for WhatsApp, LinkedIn or a website team page.
Limitations
Rotation is in 90 degree steps only, so it cannot straighten a slightly tilted horizon. Cropping redraws the image, which removes EXIF data such as GPS location. Animated GIFs become a single still frame.
Image Cropper FAQs
How do I crop a picture to a square?
Choose your image and tap the 1:1 square preset. A square crop box appears in the middle of the photo. Drag it to the part you want to keep and use the corner handles to make it bigger or smaller. Then click Crop and download.
How do I make a round profile picture?
Tick Round crop. The crop box switches to a circle with a 1:1 ratio. Position it over your face and click Crop and download. You get a PNG where everything outside the circle is transparent, which looks clean on any background.
Does cropping reduce the quality of my photo?
No. The preview is scaled down for speed, but the final crop is cut from your original full resolution image. If you want a smaller file, enter an output width, choose JPG or WebP and lower the quality slider to around 80 to 90.
Can I fix a mirrored selfie?
Yes. Front cameras often save selfies mirrored, so text in the background reads backwards. Click Flip to mirror the photo horizontally and the text reads correctly again. Flip vertical turns the image upside down, and the rotate buttons turn it in 90 degree steps.
