How the local SEO audit works

The tool runs our full website SEO audit, then adds local checks based on the details you enter. It reads the visible text, links and JSON-LD schema of your page and compares them with your business name, city and phone number.

Local checks

  • Business name, city and phone number appear as text on the page.
  • The city appears in the title tag or H1.
  • A tap-to-call link and a Google Maps link or embedded map.
  • LocalBusiness schema with seven key fields: name, address, telephone, geo, opening hours, areaServed and sameAs.
  • The name, phone and city in your schema match what you typed.
  • Conversion signals such as a contact form, WhatsApp, reviews and opening hours.

Phone numbers are compared by their last 9 digits, so different formats and country codes still match. Names are compared without capitals, punctuation or suffixes such as LLC.

Scores

The local score weights each local check and counts passes fully and items to improve as half. You also get the overall SEO score and the top website fixes, plus tips for your business category.

Limitations

Google does not offer a free API to read Business Profiles, so the tool cannot see your reviews, categories, photos or map ranking. Use the checklist provided to review your profile by hand. The audit checks one page, usually your home page.

FAQ

Local SEO Audit FAQs

What is a local SEO audit?

It is a review of the signals that help a business appear in Google Maps and local search results: consistent name, address and phone, location keywords, LocalBusiness schema, reviews, maps links and a complete Google Business Profile. This tool checks the website side and gives you a profile checklist.

Why can’t the tool check my Google Business Profile?

Google only gives profile data to the verified owner through an approved API, and it offers no free public access. Tools that claim to read any profile usually scrape Google, which is unreliable. Use the checklist in your results to review your profile directly.

What is NAP and why does it matter?

NAP stands for name, address and phone number. Google compares these details across your website, Business Profile and directories. When they match exactly, Google is more confident about your business location, which supports map pack rankings. Mismatches can split or weaken those signals.

How long does local SEO take to work?

Fixes on your website and Business Profile can show results in a few weeks, especially for less competitive areas. Building reviews, citations and location pages is ongoing work. Most businesses see steady map ranking gains over three to six months of consistent effort.
