How the Facebook ads budget calculator works

Meta charges most campaigns by impressions, so the calculator lets you plan with CPM, the cost per 1,000 impressions. If you know your cost per link click, switch to CPC planning instead. From there it moves step by step through the funnel: impressions, reach, clicks and results.

Formulas

  • Impressions = budget / CPM x 1,000
  • Clicks = impressions x CTR, or budget / CPC
  • Reach = impressions / frequency
  • Results = clicks x conversion rate
  • Cost per result = budget / results

Daily or lifetime budget

The tool shows both. A daily budget is spent each day, and Meta may spend more on good days while keeping weekly spend within seven times the daily amount. A lifetime budget is paced across your whole schedule.

Learning phase check

Meta suggests around 50 optimization events per ad set per week for delivery to leave the learning phase. The calculator divides your weekly results by your ad sets and tells you if you are close, and roughly what daily budget would get you there.

Limitations

Reach here is an estimate based on the frequency you enter. Ads Manager reports the real number. CPM, CTR and conversion rate depend on audience, creative, placement, season and country, so these are planning figures from your inputs, not predictions. Update them after the first week of live data.

FAQ

Facebook Ads Budget Calculator FAQs

How much should I spend on Facebook ads per day?

Work backwards from results. Decide how many leads you need, estimate your cost per result, and divide by the days in your campaign. Also check the learning phase: if each ad set gets far fewer than about 50 results a week, consider fewer ad sets or a bigger budget.

What is a good CPM for Facebook ads?

It depends on your country, audience size, season and competition. Narrow audiences and busy shopping seasons usually cost more. Rather than chasing a benchmark, compare CPM across your own campaigns and focus on cost per result, which is what really affects your profit.

What is the Facebook ads learning phase?

It is the period when Meta delivery is still exploring who to show your ads to. Meta suggests about 50 optimization events per ad set per week to exit it. Big edits to budget, audience or creative can restart learning, so change things gradually.

How is reach different from impressions?

Impressions count every time an ad is shown. Reach counts unique people. If each person sees your ad twice on average, reach is half of impressions. This calculator estimates reach by dividing impressions by the frequency you enter. Watch both numbers together in Ads Manager.
