How the landed cost calculator works

Landed cost is everything you pay to get goods into your warehouse: the product, freight, insurance, customs duties, import taxes and local charges. Knowing it per unit is the only safe way to set selling prices for imported stock. You enter every rate yourself, so the tool works for any country and any HS code, and it runs offline.

Formulas (Pakistan style preset)

  • CIF = FOB + Freight + Insurance, converted at your exchange rate.
  • Assessable value (AV) = CIF + landing charges (commonly 1% of CIF).
  • CD, RD and ACD = AV x each rate.
  • Value for sales tax = AV + CD + RD + ACD. ST and AST = that value x each rate.
  • Value for income tax = AV + duties + ST + AST. IT = that value x the rate.
  • Landed cost = CIF + all duties and taxes + local charges. Per unit = Landed cost / Quantity.

The generic preset applies import duty and additional duty to the customs value, VAT on the value plus duties (or on the value only), and an optional withholding tax.

Several products

Each product has its own rates. Freight and insurance are shared by FOB value, and local charges by value or quantity. If you are a registered importer, mark sales tax or income tax as recoverable to see the net cost as well as the cash needed at clearance.

Limitations

This is an estimate. It does not know any official tariff rates, exemptions, SROs, free trade concessions or valuation rulings, and customs may assess a value different from your invoice. Check the HS code, rates and value with your customs authority or a licensed clearing agent before you import. It is not customs, tax or legal advice.

FAQ

Import Duty & Landed Cost Calculator FAQs

How do I calculate landed cost?

Add the FOB price, freight and insurance to get the CIF value. Then add customs duties, import sales tax or VAT, any withholding tax, and local costs such as clearing agent fees, port charges, transport and bank charges. Divide the total by the quantity to get the landed cost per unit.

How is import duty calculated in Pakistan?

Customs adds landing charges, usually 1%, to the CIF value to get the assessable value. Customs duty, regulatory duty and additional customs duty are charged on that value. Sales tax and additional sales tax are charged on the value plus duties, and income tax on the value plus all duties and sales tax.

Where do I find the duty rate for my product?

Find the HS code (PCT code in Pakistan) for your product, then look it up in your country’s customs tariff or on the customs authority’s website. Rates can change with the budget and special notifications, so confirm current rates and any exemptions with customs or a licensed clearing agent before shipping.

Does this calculator use live duty or exchange rates?

No. You enter the duty rates, tax rates and exchange rate yourself, so the result matches your HS code and the rate on your declaration date. This keeps it accurate for any country and lets it work offline, but it also means the estimate is only as good as the rates you enter.
