Free CSS Gradient Generator
Design smooth linear, radial and conic gradients with a live preview, then copy clean CSS or download the gradient as a PNG background.
CSS Gradient Generator: Design smooth linear, radial and conic gradients with a live preview, then copy clean CSS or download the gradient as a PNG background. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser. How to use it: 1) pick a preset or choose the gradient type, angle and position; 2) adjust the color stops, add up to 8 colors and watch the live preview; 3) copy the CSS or Tailwind class, or download a PNG in the size you need. CSS gradients are images the browser draws from a list of colors and positions. You choose the type, direction and color stops, and the tool writes the matching CSS and updates the preview as you edit.
How the CSS gradient generator works
CSS gradients are images the browser draws from a list of colors and positions. You choose the type, direction and color stops, and the tool writes the matching CSS and updates the preview as you edit.
Gradient types
- Linear blends colors along a straight line. 0 degrees points up and 90 degrees points right.
- Radial spreads colors out from a center point as a circle or ellipse.
- Conic sweeps colors around a center point, like a color wheel or pie chart.
Tick repeating to tile the pattern, which is useful for stripes and rings.
The CSS output
The code includes a solid fallback color first, then the gradient as a background image. Older browsers and many email clients show the fallback. You also get a Tailwind arbitrary value class.
PNG download
The PNG is drawn with the browser canvas at sizes for HD screens, square posts, stories and social share images, so you can use the gradient in design tools or on social media.
Limitations
Gradients in the PNG export are drawn by your browser, so very subtle blends can show slight banding compared with the CSS. Conic PNG export needs a recent browser. Gradients are not supported in most email clients, so the fallback color shows there.
CSS Gradient Generator FAQs
How do I make a gradient background in CSS?
Use the background-image property with a gradient function, for example background-image: linear-gradient(135deg, #0A6CD0 0%, #00AEE6 100%). Add a plain background color first as a fallback. This generator writes both lines for you so you can paste them into your stylesheet or theme settings.
What is the difference between linear, radial and conic gradients?
A linear gradient changes color along a straight line at any angle. A radial gradient spreads out from a center point in a circle or ellipse. A conic gradient rotates around a center point, so colors change by angle, which suits color wheels, pie charts and loading rings.
Do CSS gradients work in all browsers?
Linear and radial gradients work in every modern browser without prefixes. Conic gradients work in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari from 2021 onwards. Most email clients do not show CSS gradients, which is why the generated code starts with a solid fallback color.
Can I download the gradient as an image?
Yes. Choose a size such as 1920 by 1080 or 1080 by 1080 and click Download PNG. The image is drawn in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Use it as a slide background, a social post background or in tools that do not support CSS.
