SERP Snippet Preview Tool: Type your title, URL and meta description to see a live desktop and mobile search result preview with width meters and truncation warnings. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser. How to use it: 1) enter your page title, URL and meta description; 2) add the search keyword to see which words get bolded; 3) watch the live previews and meters, then fix anything that gets cut. The preview updates as you type. It draws a search result in a style close to Google: site name, breadcrumb style URL, blue title and grey description.
How the SERP snippet preview works
The preview updates as you type. It draws a search result in a style close to Google: site name, breadcrumb style URL, blue title and grey description. Words from your keyword are bolded in the description, as Google often does for matching terms.
Truncation by pixel width
Google cuts long titles and descriptions by width. The tool measures your text with an Arial character width table and cuts it at about 600px for desktop titles and about 920px for desktop descriptions, adding an ellipsis where Google would. Mobile limits differ because text wraps onto more lines, so both views are shown.
Meters and warnings
The bars compare your title and description with the estimated limits. Warnings appear when the title is cut, when the description is too long or too short, or when the keyword is missing from the title.
Rich result extras
You can preview a date, review stars and a price line. Stars only appear in real results when your page has valid review markup from genuine customers, and Google still decides whether to show them. Never add ratings you cannot prove.
Limitations
This is a visual estimate. Real results use different fonts on different devices, Google may rewrite your title or description, and layouts change over time. The preview is not affiliated with Google.
SERP Snippet Preview FAQs
Why is my title cut off in Google results?
Google limits titles to roughly 600 pixels on desktop. Long titles, or titles with many wide letters, get cut and end with an ellipsis. Move the main keyword and most important words to the front, shorten filler words, and drop the brand name if space is tight.
Does Google always show my meta description?
No. Google often writes its own snippet from page text that better matches the search. A clear, unique description that summarises the page accurately is more likely to be used. This preview shows how your own description looks when Google does use it.
Can I add review stars to my search result?
Only if the page has valid structured data for real reviews or ratings, and the content qualifies under Google guidelines. Google ignores self-serving reviews on business pages and decides case by case whether to show stars. Fake reviews can lead to a manual action.
Is the mobile preview different from desktop?
Yes. Mobile results use narrower columns, so titles often wrap onto two lines and descriptions show a little less text. The tool shows both views side by side so you can make sure your key message survives on every screen size.
