How the IP checker works

When your browser contacts our website, the connection arrives from a public IP address. Our server reads that address and sends it back to you together with the user agent your browser sent. Nothing else leaves your device.

What you see

  • Public IP address and whether it is IPv4 or IPv6.
  • Browser and operating system read from the user agent.
  • Screen and window size, pixel ratio and touch support.
  • Language, time zone and local time as set on your device.
  • Color scheme, cookies, connection type and CPU cores where your browser shares them.

The device details are read by your browser on your device and are never sent to us. This tool does not save your IP address.

Why your IP matters

Support teams, hosting firewalls, Google Analytics filters and remote desktop tools often ask for your IP address. Copy it from here to whitelist your office or exclude your own visits from reports.

Limitations

The IP shown is the one your network uses publicly, not the private address of your device. On mobile data, behind a VPN, a proxy or carrier grade NAT, it may be shared with other people or change often. The tool does not show your location, because IP based locations are often wrong. The IP check needs an internet connection, while the device details work offline.

FAQ

What Is My IP FAQs

What is my public IP address?

It is the address your internet connection uses to talk to websites. Your router or mobile carrier gives it to all devices on your network, so your phone and laptop at home usually share one public IP. This tool shows it at the top of the page with a button to copy it.

What is the difference between a public and a private IP?

A public IP is visible to websites and is unique on the internet at a given moment. A private IP, such as 192.168.1.20, is used only inside your home or office network and is set by your router. Websites never see your private IP, only the public one.

Why does my IP address keep changing?

Most home and mobile internet plans use dynamic IP addresses, so your provider can assign a new one when your router restarts or your phone reconnects. VPNs also change the IP you appear from. If you need a fixed address for a firewall or server, ask your provider for a static IP.

Can someone find my home address from my IP?

Not on their own. An IP address usually points to your internet provider and a rough city or region, which is often wrong. Only your provider can link an IP to a customer account, and they share that only with legal authority. A VPN hides your real IP from websites.
