How the Amazon ACoS calculator works

The calculator uses the standard Amazon Advertising formulas with your own numbers. Nothing is estimated from outside data. It runs in your browser, works offline in the Hayyat Networks app and remembers your last inputs on this device.

Formulas

  • ACoS = ad spend / ad sales x 100
  • ROAS = ad sales / ad spend, which is 100 / ACoS
  • TACoS = ad spend / total sales (ads plus organic) x 100
  • Break-even ACoS = profit margin before ads = (price – product cost – referral fee – FBA fee – other costs) / price
  • Target ACoS = break-even ACoS – the profit margin you want after ads
  • Max CPC bid = price x conversion rate x target ACoS

Example: $250 spend and $1,000 ad sales give a 25% ACoS and 4x ROAS. A $25 product with a 37% margin before ads breaks even at 37% ACoS. With a 10% profit goal the target is 27%, and at an 8% conversion rate the max bid is $25 x 0.08 x 0.27 = $0.54.

The referral fee defaults to 15% with a $0.30 minimum, as for most categories. Enter an FBA fee that includes the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge. Defaults checked November 2026; confirm in your seller dashboard.

Limitations

Amazon attributes ad sales over a 7 or 14 day window, so short date ranges can understate sales. Conversion rates vary by keyword, so treat bids as a starting point. This is a planning estimate, not financial advice. Not affiliated with Etsy, Amazon, eBay or Walmart.

FAQ

Amazon ACoS Calculator FAQs

What is a good ACoS on Amazon?

A good ACoS is one below your break-even ACoS, which equals your profit margin before ads. If your margin is 35%, any ACoS under 35% makes money on ad sales. Many sellers aim several points lower to keep profit, and accept a higher ACoS for a short time when launching a product.

What is the difference between ACoS and TACoS?

ACoS divides ad spend by ad sales only. TACoS divides the same ad spend by total sales, including organic orders. ACoS shows how efficient your campaigns are, while TACoS shows how much the whole business depends on ads. A falling TACoS usually means organic rank and sales are growing.

How do I calculate break-even ACoS?

Take your selling price and subtract product cost, the Amazon referral fee, the FBA or shipping fee and other per-unit costs. Divide that profit by the price. For a $25 item with $9.25 profit before ads, break-even ACoS is 37%. Above that, each ad sale loses money.

How much should I bid per click on Amazon?

Multiply your price by your conversion rate and your target ACoS. A $25 product that converts 8% of clicks with a 27% target ACoS supports a bid of about $0.54. Bidding above your break-even CPC means every click costs more than the profit it brings in on average.
