The method
- Your own phrases get top priority, followed by your main item phrase.
- Every candidate is checked against the 20 character limit, including spaces.
- Singular and plural forms count as duplicates, because Etsy matches both.
- Tags made only of your category words are skipped, since Etsy already counts your category.
- Each word is limited to a few tags, so your 13 tags cover more different searches.
- The set mixes item, material, style, recipient, occasion and gift phrases.
Click Generate more to get a different mix that prefers phrases you have not seen yet. You also get title ideas built from your tags and a pool of extra tag options to swap in.
Where the phrases come from
Phrases come from your inputs plus curated Etsy phrase patterns for common product types, recipients and occasions. Everything runs in your browser, so the tool works offline in the Hayyat Networks app.
Limitations
We do not show search volumes or competition scores, because we never estimate numbers we cannot verify. Check each tag in the Etsy search bar to see if Etsy suggests it. How many tags can I use on Etsy?
Etsy lets you add 13 tags to each listing, and each tag can be up to 20 characters including spaces. Use all 13, because every empty slot is a missed chance to match a buyer search. Multi-word phrases usually work better than single words.
Should Etsy tags be single words or phrases?
Use phrases. A tag like lavender soy candle matches a specific search from a buyer who knows what they want. Single words such as candle are broad and very competitive. Long-tail phrases of two or three words are the best use of each slot.
Do I need plural tags on Etsy?
No. Etsy matches singular and plural forms, so candle and candles count as the same search. Adding both wastes a tag slot. Our generator treats plural versions as duplicates and replaces them with new phrases, giving you wider coverage with the same 13 tags.
Should my Etsy tags match my title?
Yes, partly. When your most important two or three tag phrases also appear in your title, Etsy sees a stronger match. Use the other tags for related phrases, recipients, occasions and styles that would not fit naturally in a short, readable title.
