Rules every message follows
- No incentives of any kind: no discounts, refunds, free products, gift cards or entries.
- Asks for honest feedback from every buyer, never only positive or five star reviews.
- No review gating, so it never asks unhappy buyers to contact you instead of reviewing.
- Plain text with no links, emojis, logos, contact details or marketing.
Marketplace notes
On Amazon, the Request a Review button on the order details page is the simplest compliant option. It works 5 to 30 days after delivery and counts as your one request for that order. Custom Amazon messages include the order ID and should be written in the buyer’s language. Etsy and eBay already remind buyers, so one follow up is enough. Walmart emails review requests itself and does not allow unsolicited seller messages, so the Walmart texts are replies for when a customer has contacted you.

Can I ask Amazon buyers to leave a review?
Yes, once per order. The simplest compliant way is the Request a Review button on the order details page, available 5 to 30 days after delivery. If you send your own message instead, keep it neutral, plain text and without links, never offer anything in return and never ask only for positive reviews.
Is it against Etsy policy to ask for a review?
No. Etsy sellers can ask buyers for a review in Etsy Messages. What breaks the rules is offering a discount, coupon, refund or freebie in exchange, asking only for positive reviews, or asking a buyer to change a review. Etsy already sends its own reminder, so one friendly follow up is plenty.
Can Walmart Marketplace sellers email customers for reviews?
Walmart emails review requests to opted in customers itself, and its seller code of conduct does not allow unsolicited messages to customers. Only contact customers through Seller Center about their order. The Walmart versions in this tool are written as replies for when a customer has already contacted you.
What words should I avoid in a review request message?
Avoid anything that offers value, such as discount, refund, coupon or gift card, and anything that steers the rating, such as five stars, positive review or if you are happy. Never say contact us before leaving a review. Leave out links, emojis and marketing. Paste your draft into Check my message to scan it.
